Peter Johnson

Founder, Lead Intern

Prior to establishing Archway Defense, Peter served 5 years as Federal Air Marshal (FAM) International Team Leader conducting counter-terror missions and surveillance around the globe. During his time with the FAMS, Peter achieved "Top Gun" at the Federal Air Marshal Academy in 2010.

Prior to FAMS, Peter served 6 years in the USAF Air Base Defense deploying internationally for Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). Peter's experience deployed included designated marksmen, clearing ordinance, conducting reconnaissance, and gathering intelligence with local nomads. CONUS Peter served as a pre-deployment trainer, combat arms instructor, and assisted the Inspector General's Office in testing base defense vulnerabilities.

Academically, Peter achieved a B.A. in Criminal Justice with a heavy emphasis on Counter-Terrorism. His undergrad culminated with his capstone research focused on the Radicalization of Somali Youth in Minneapolis.

Sean O'Mara M.D, J.D

Medical, Security Advisor

Dr. Sean O'Mara was the President and Founder of Guardian 24/7 and inventor of several innovative medical devices. He was formerly a provider of contingency medical support to the American President and other dignitaries while serving in the U.S. Army and is currently a Lt. Colonel with the Army Reserve. Dr. O'Mara's extensive years of experience working with the White House, U.S. Secret Service and State Department to provide direct medical support to the President, senior U.S. officials and high-level foreign dignitaries serves as an invaluable asset to the Archway Defense advisory core.

As an emergency medicine trained physician experienced in full-time practice, along with years of emergency medical service around the globe; Dr. O'Mara possesses an extraordinary commitment to wellness and is an avid lecturer to organizations, especially Law Enforcement. Dr. O'Mara has become a well-respected pioneer of emergency medical planning, wellness, and emergency response.

Justin Schmidt | Archway Defense

Justin Schmidt

Instructor, Law Enforcement Advisor

Motivated by the attacks on September 11th, Justin enlisted into the military and began an honorable career that included several deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). While deployed, Justin gathered Intel, provided Designated Marksman Support, and provided in-flight and on the ground security for the flight crew and aircraft.

Justin started his teaching career in 2007, when he attended the USAF Combat Arms Training and Maintenance (CATM) apprentice course. There he learned the principles of instructing adult learners, and to teach his students the safe and proficient use of all the small arms weapons systems in the USAF inventory. Since 2007 Justin has been teaching firearms and use of force, in both public and private sectors. During that period of time thousands of students, both Military/Law Enforcement and Civilian have successfully completed the courses taught by Justin.

Now employed as a Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) for a large metropolitan department, Justin has been a contributor to the curriculum taught at Archway Defense. Justin’ passion is being able to answer the “Why” for his students, so that they better understand the material and context. Justin believes you can get firearms training almost anywhere, however there is only one place to get true “Peace of Mind”, Archway Defense.

 
 
 
 

Brendon Street

Instructor, CQB Specialist

Brendon has spent over eleven years with the Army Special Forces, sometimes referred to as the Green Berets, in both active duty and in the reserves. While there he learned that one never ceases to study, and blend the disciplines of shooting, martial arts, physical conditioning, and mindset. Brendon has graduated many military course including the SF CQB and Sniper Courses (SFAUC & SOTIC). At sniper school Brendon earned the title of “Top Shot”. Further Brendon has deployed in support of the Global War on Terror and Overseas Contingency Operations to the Middle East, South America, and is fluent in Arabic and Spanish.

Since leaving active duty, Brendon has worked as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer for six years, first as Federal Air Marshal, which during their training academy he earned the title of “Distinguished Honor Graduate”. Currently he is a Special Agent at a Federal Agency, and has completed many law enforcement courses including the Criminal Investigator, Firearms Instructor, Active Shooter Threat Instructor, the Survival Shooting Training Programs, and has worked as a guest instructor at the FLETC. Academically, Brendon has earned a B.A. and M.S. in Criminal Justice, and also a Master of Public Administration.

 
 

Jason Strauch

Empty Handed Defense, First Response Advisor

Along with Archway Defense, Jason Strauch is the founder of Progress One Training. He has over 15 years of experience in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine as a nurse and orthopedic assistant. The unique training Jason brings to his clients combines martial arts, military tactics, advanced fitness, and injury prevention. He is an Operation Iraqi Freedom combat veteran and active Army National Guard soldier. His certifications and experience include LPN, EMT, Orthopedic Tech (OTC), Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) and Resistance Training Specialist (RTS).

Jason's experience has been gained from the battle field to the operating room. His passion for the protection and wellness of innocent lives can be seen in his daily commitment to the community. His unique skill set helps to balance the Archway Defense Team when developing critical incident response.

 
 
 
Drew M. | Archway Defense

Drew M.

Instructor, V.A.T. Leader, Foreign Travel Advisor

Prior to Archway Defense, Drew spent 11 years with the United States Air Force as a Security Forces Sergeant. He specialized in air base defense operations, as well as instructing U.S. and foreign military members in marksmanship, weapon handling, defensive tactics, and operations in urban terrain.

Drew is currently working internationally with the Department of Homeland Security conducting Counter-Terrorism operations throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. Drew has worked with numerous foreign government and police forces to increase security/awareness of vulnerabilities in daily operations. He has established himself as a professional in foreign security operations and terrorist planning cycle disruption.

Drew also holds a Bachelor of Science from The Art Institutes International Minnesota.

Before Archway Defense, Tyler spent more than 5 years in the defense and tactical gear industry serving law enforcement clients from around the country. Partnering with law enforcement agencies, Tyler ensured officers were equipped with cutting edge equipment to perform in a tense, uncertain, and rapidly evolving situation. Tyler serves on the Archway Defense team and leverages his years of industry experience to better equip our partners for success. He double majored in Business Administration and Marketing at Indiana Wesleyan University. He also pew pews.

Nic Zahasky

Executive Chef

An executive chef since 2002, Nic has launched, run and redeveloped restaurants and food-service programs in Nevada, California, Iowa, South Dakota and Minnesota. He has cooked for many elite figures such as Madeline Albright, Micheal Pollan, Arun Gandhi, Wailin' Jennys, the King and Queen of Norway and Five for Fighting, along with independent contracting for the bullet proof executive himself, Dave Asprey.

In 2011, Nic retired from his executive chef role and left "the corporate lifestyle" to pursue self-training with functional fitness and Paleo nutrition. He began racing for the first time with this new-found energy, strength and passion, and began to consistently win national obstacle course races and competitions. Quickly becoming a public figure and personality for Paleo nutrition and ancestral health, he designed Cultivate in 2016 to bring more awareness and accessibility for Paleo nutrition, functional movement and ancestral health to the community at large.
